How to Protect Parquet, Marble and Tile During Renovation and Painting
Floor protection during renovation is planned before paint and material traffic begin. Parquet, marble and tile each need their own attention.
Floor protection during renovation belongs in the plan before a paint tin is opened or materials start moving. Parquet dents, marble scratches and tile grout takes on dirt. Those marks ask for a separate repair after the job.
The plan starts with three questions: what is the surface, how long will the work last, and what will cross the room? A short paint job and a renovation that runs for weeks do not need the same preparation. Routes, stairs and thresholds have to be included.
## Parquet
Parquet is damaged by a dropped tool, a dragged ladder and wet paint. The surface should be clean and dry. On freshly finished parquet, wait through the finish manufacturer's period. The covering should reach the skirting and the joins should not stay open. At the end, fold the covering back and check the floor.
## Marble and natural stone
Marble marks and scratches easily. Paint, mortar and metal can leave a lasting trace. The covering should close the whole stone surface and the route up to the threshold. Test compatibility on a small area first. After removal, look over the stone again.
## Tile
The tile body often takes impact better than parquet. The grout is the sensitive part. Dust and paint that settle in the joints make cleaning longer. Lay the covering so it also closes the grout. If the work is wet, be sure the floor is dry first.

The base of a painted wall, the material route on site and the path of furniture during a move all need the same care. Check the edges while the work continues. A covering that has shifted no longer protects the floor it left open.
Naming the surface and the duration at the start sets the right covering and the right quantity. Read what the covering is in [[/blog/zemin-koruma-ortusu|the floor protection article]] and the laying order in [[/blog/zemin-koruma-ortusu-nasil-kullanilir|the application guide]].
