What Is a Floor Protection Covering? Where and How Is It Used?

A floor protection covering is a temporary layer that shields parquet, marble and tile from dust, impact and material traffic during renovation, painting and site work.

A floor protection covering is a temporary layer laid over an existing floor and removed when the job is finished. It limits how far paint, dust, debris, tools and heavy foot traffic reach parquet, marble, tile, stairs and worktops.

The unseen side of a renovation is the floor left behind. When protection is planned at the start, both the surface and the pace of the work stay intact. The covering is the core of that plan.

## Where it is used

It is used on living-room, hallway and bedroom parquet, on marble and tile in kitchens and bathrooms, on stairs between floors and on worktops. The same need appears on material routes at a site, along the wall during painting and on the path furniture takes during a move.

Not every surface is treated with the same covering. The choice follows the surface, the length of the job and the traffic in the room. On a newly laid or newly treated floor, wait for the manufacturer's recommended period.

## How it is used

Installation starts on a clean, dry surface. On sensitive areas, check compatibility in a small patch first. Lay the covering according to the product instructions. Watch edges, skirting, joins and busy routes throughout the job. When the work ends, lift the material carefully and inspect the floor.

Self-adhesive felt coverings stay in place and cushion impact more reliably than slippery plastic sheeting or cardboard that breaks apart. Reuse depends on the product and on its condition after the job. Soiled or torn material is not laid again unless the instructions allow it.

Net area, cuts and joins change the quantity you need. See the [[/blog/zemin-koruma-ortusu-nasil-kullanilir|step-by-step guide]] and the [[/blog/zemin-koruma-malzemeleri|comparison of covering, plastic and cardboard]].
